BLMC's Sustainability and "Green" Initiatives
BLMC is focused on advancing sustainability through various initiatives, aligning with the values of both former WEDCO and BLDC. At the Dockyard, BLMC has integrated solar power as part of a renewable energy push. This project, currently underway, is expected to help reduce carbon emissions and operating costs over time by generating clean energy on-site.
The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it. — Robert Swan
In Southside, sustainability efforts include a waste water treatment plant and a desalination plant, which both aid in conserving water resources, an essential practice on Bermuda’s small landmass. Additionally, BLDC (now BLMC) has previously taken action to develop spaces with environmental mindfulness, showing dedication to balanced development. For instance, BLDC collaborated on green initiatives at Southside to ensure that development projects would be responsible and resource-efficient.
Through these and other initiatives, BLMC aims to build a more sustainable future for Bermuda by setting a precedent in responsible management and energy usage.
